English translation

When morning breaks, the hidden flaw shows itself.

Literal wording

The day rose and the defect appeared.

Meaning and lesson

It describes how a concealed defect or hidden shortcoming becomes visible once the proper time arrives. The image rests on daylight: as the sun rises, what was hidden in dimness is seen plainly and the covered flaw is exposed.

The weight falls on timing rather than chance: whatever was masked or glossed over cannot outlast the coming of light, so its exposure is presented as only a matter of waiting. In Arabic the two halves rhyme, pairing the breaking day with the flaw it uncovers.

When it is used

Speakers use it when a concealed flaw in a person, object, plan, or arrangement finally comes to light through the natural passing of time. Apply it only where something was actually hidden, not where a problem was simply noticed late.
