While there's life there's hope.

As long as someone remains alive, the possibility of recovery, change, rescue, or a better outcome has not disappeared. The saying urges people not to treat a difficult situation as finally lost while life continues.

It expresses perseverance under hardship, but it does not promise success. Hope is presented as a reason to continue caring, seeking help, or making an effort, because death alone closes every possibility.

Use this proverb to encourage endurance when a person faces illness, danger, failure, or severe misfortune. It suits compassionate reassurance and determined resolve, but in serious personal crises, pair it with practical support and acknowledgment of the difficulty; it can sound insensitive if it dismisses suffering or realistic limits.
